Could taking epilepsy meds three times a day stop more seizures?
NCT ID NCT07490769
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This Phase 3 trial tests whether taking levetiracetam three times daily (instead of the usual twice daily) leads to more seizure-free days in adults with uncontrolled epilepsy. 120 participants will take the drug three times a day for 12 months and compare their results to their own past seizure records. The study also tracks side effects like dizziness and mood changes.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Levetiracetam (an anti-seizure medication)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that taking levetiracetam three times a day controls seizures better than the standard twice-daily schedule.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-phase trial with only 120 participants, and it uses a self-controlled design rather than a placebo group. Side effects like dizziness or mood changes may also limit tolerability.
