First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 05, 2026 · Updated 22 times
Summary
This study tests whether empagliflozin, a drug used for diabetes, can help people with cirrhosis (scarred liver) and ascites (belly fluid) get rid of extra salt and water. About 20 adults on stable diuretics will receive either the drug or a placebo for 14 days. The goal is to see if it reduces fluid overload and improves kidney function without causing harm.
