Could a Once-Daily pill help asian adults win the battle against obesity?
NCT ID NCT07775404
First seen Aug 20, 2026 · Last updated Aug 28, 2026 · Updated 3 times
Summary
This phase 3 trial is testing whether an experimental once-daily tablet called elecoglipron can help Asian adults with obesity or overweight lose weight, when combined with diet and exercise. The study includes people with or without type 2 diabetes. Participants will receive either elecoglipron or a placebo for about a year, and researchers will measure changes in body weight and waist size. The goal is to see if this pill can be a safe and effective tool for weight management.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Elecoglipron, an experimental once-daily tablet, taken alongside diet and exercise.
- What this could lead to
- If successful, elecoglipron could offer a new daily pill to help people with obesity or overweight achieve meaningful weight loss, potentially improving related health conditions.
- What could go wrong
- This is a phase 3 trial, but results are not yet known. The drug may not prove more effective than placebo, and side effects are possible. Success in this Asian population may not generalize to other groups.
