Summary

This study looks at how a gas called nitric oxide, given through a mask or nasal tubes, changes the way air and blood flow match in the lungs of people with ARDS (a serious lung injury). Researchers will use a special imaging technique (EIT) to see these changes right away. The goal is to learn more about how this treatment works, not to test a cure. About 40 adults with ARDS who are awake and breathing with help from a machine will take part.
