Hospital alerts aim to cut unnecessary oxygen use in sick babies

NCT ID NCT06932341

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jul 17, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether alerts in electronic health records help doctors follow best-practice guidelines for bronchiolitis, a common lung infection in young children. About 8,000 children under 2 years old will take part. Doctors will receive either no alert, a gentle reminder, or a pop-up notice to use the guidelines. The goal is to see if these alerts reduce the use of high-flow nasal cannula oxygen therapy, which is often not needed.
