Ultrasound vs x-ray: a new way to spot lung issues in sick babies?

NCT ID NCT02890797

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looked at whether chest ultrasound could be as good as chest X-ray for finding lung complications in infants under 2 years old with bronchiolitis. Only 19 babies were enrolled before the study was stopped early. The goal was to see if ultrasound, which uses no radiation, could spot lung infections or fluid buildup that X-rays can detect.
