First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests a device called Efferon LPS that filters toxins and inflammatory substances from the blood. It is being given to 150 people with severe acute pancreatitis within 24 hours of ICU admission. The goal is to see if it reduces organ failure and improves outcomes compared to standard therapy alone.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Efferon LPS device (blood filter that removes toxins and inflammatory substances)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could provide a new way to reduce organ damage and improve survival in severe acute pancreatitis.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage trial with no phase designation, so results are uncertain. The device is used alongside standard care, so its added benefit is not yet proven.
