Can a simple blood test after pancreatic surgery save lives?
NCT ID NCT06126601
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study follows 150 patients who have had part of their pancreas removed. Researchers will measure blood levels of amylase and lipase before, during, and after surgery to see if high levels can predict serious complications like pancreatitis. The goal is to improve how doctors identify and treat these problems early.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to better early detection and management of pancreatitis after pancreatic surgery, improving patient safety.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not testing a new treatment. It may not lead to immediate changes in care, and results may not apply to all patients.
