Could a simple sedation plan transform recovery for ECMO patients?

NCT ID NCT07580781

First seen Jun 03, 2026 · Last updated Jun 12, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a new, carefully designed plan for giving painkillers and sedatives to patients on ECMO (a life-support machine) is possible to use in hospitals. ECMO patients often face long-term problems like anxiety and memory issues, which may be linked to how much sedation they receive. The trial will involve 30 to 60 adults on ECMO, comparing the new plan to usual care, to see if a larger study is feasible.
