Early surgery may save lives in severe stroke patients

NCT ID NCT07118345

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether performing skull surgery early, before dangerous brain swelling occurs, can improve outcomes for people who have had a severe stroke and are at high risk of swelling. About 380 adults aged 18–75 will be randomly assigned to receive either early surgery plus standard care or standard care alone. The goal is to see if early surgery helps more people survive with less disability.
