One-size-fits-all blood thinners challenged in massive joint replacement trial

Summary
This study tests whether giving blood thinners based on a person's individual risk—instead of the same dose for everyone—can better prevent dangerous blood clots and avoid excessive bleeding after hip or knee replacement. About 10,000 adults having elective joint replacement will be assigned to either standard treatment or a personalized plan: shorter treatment for low-risk patients, or stronger/longer treatment for high-risk patients. The goal is to find the safest, most effective approach for each person.
