First seen Apr 22, 2026 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study tests whether adding the allergy drug diphenhydramine (Benadryl) to standard sedation medicine can reduce pain during a first-trimester abortion procedure. About 98 adults having an abortion at 13 weeks or earlier will receive either diphenhydramine or a placebo alongside usual sedatives. The main goal is to see if the extra medicine lowers pain scores during the procedure.
