Could dimephosphon help stroke patients recover faster?
NCT ID NCT07167550
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This Phase 3 trial tests whether the drug Dimephosphon can improve recovery in people who have had an acute ischemic stroke. About 184 adults aged 35-80 will receive either Dimephosphon or a placebo within 24-72 hours of their stroke. The main goal is to see if more patients achieve functional independence (scored 0-2 on the Modified Rankin Scale) by day 15.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Dimephosphon
What this could lead to
If successful, Dimephosphon could become a new treatment option to improve recovery after an acute ischemic stroke.
What could go wrong
This is an early Phase 3 trial with only 184 participants. The drug may not prove more effective than placebo, and side effects are still being evaluated.
