First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jul 02, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This pilot study is testing whether combining a modified Atkins diet (low-carb, high-protein) with a 12-week fitness program can improve quality of life and physical function in 15 people with malignant glioma. Participants will follow the diet and attend two supervised exercise sessions per week plus a home program. The goal is to see if this lifestyle approach is feasible and beneficial for this patient group.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
Modified Atkins diet and fitness program
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a supportive lifestyle approach to help people with malignant glioma feel better and stay more active during their treatment.
What could go wrong
This is a very small pilot study with only 15 participants and no control group, so results may not apply widely. The diet and exercise regimen may be hard to follow for some patients.
