Simple tests could save thousands of diabetic legs from amputation

NCT ID NCT05009602

First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study looked at 604 people with diabetes to see how well simple bedside tests (like listening to blood flow with a Doppler) can detect poor leg circulation compared to detailed scans (CTA or MRA). Poor circulation is a major cause of leg amputations in diabetes, but finding it early is tricky. The goal is to identify the best simple test to help prevent amputations.
