First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 15, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study looked at whether a short therapy program for depression could help prevent type 2 diabetes in teenage girls who are at risk. The researchers tested a cognitive-behavioral therapy group against a health education group in 147 girls aged 12-17 with high BMI and mild-to-moderate depression. They measured changes in insulin sensitivity, eating habits, activity, sleep, and stress hormones over one year to see if treating depression improves metabolic health.
