Scientists probe Brain's reward system during inflammation in aging

NCT ID NCT05363527

Summary

This study aimed to understand how inflammation might affect feelings of pleasure and motivation in older adults, particularly those with anxiety. Researchers gave 40 participants aged 60-80 either a substance that causes temporary inflammation or a placebo, then measured their mood and brain activity using scans and tasks. The goal was to gather knowledge about the links between inflammation, aging, anxiety, and depression, not to test a treatment.
