First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether using a dental operating microscope during a pulpotomy (a partial root canal) reduces pain and improves quality of life afterward. 82 adults with deep cavities and tooth nerve pain will be randomly assigned to get the procedure with or without the microscope. Pain levels and daily-life impact will be tracked for 72 hours after treatment.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
dental operating microscope (device)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could show that using a microscope during a common dental procedure reduces pain and improves recovery for patients with deep cavities.
What could go wrong
This is a very early-stage trial with only 82 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The microscope may not significantly reduce pain compared to standard care.
