Pain relief study halted: did d-cycloserine fail for back pain?

NCT ID NCT03535688

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tested whether D-cycloserine, a drug that affects brain signaling, could reduce pain in people with chronic low back pain that had not responded to other treatments. About 200 adults with at least 6 months of back pain and an average pain score of 4 or higher (on a 0–10 scale) were enrolled. The study was terminated early, so results are limited.
