New mapping tech could make heart ablation more precise
NCT ID NCT07320560
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This pilot study tests whether a non-invasive global mapping system can help doctors personalize catheter ablation for people with persistent atrial fibrillation (AF). The standard approach isolates the pulmonary veins, but this study adds up to three extra targets based on where the heart shows stable high-rate activity. Researchers will compare outcomes with historical data to see if the personalized approach improves AF termination and reduces recurrence. Forty-five participants will be followed for two years.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
catheter ablation guided by non-invasive global mapping
What this could lead to
If successful, this approach could make atrial fibrillation ablation more effective by targeting the specific sources of the arrhythmia in each patient.
What could go wrong
This is a small pilot study with only 45 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The procedure still carries standard risks of catheter ablation, such as bleeding or heart damage.
