First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study tests whether giving the COVID-19 vaccine to babies as young as 6 months old can lower their chance of developing type 1 diabetes. About 2,252 children with a high genetic risk for the disease will be randomly assigned to receive either the vaccine or a placebo. Researchers will track how many children develop early signs of diabetes or the disease itself over time.
