First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether adding hands-on cooking classes to a standard weight loss program helps young adults (18-35) with mild-to-moderate intellectual disabilities lose more weight and keep it off. Over 24 months, 114 participants will either follow a healthy eating plan with coaching or also attend cooking classes. Researchers will track weight, body fat, and health markers like blood pressure.

What this could lead to

If it works, this could offer a practical way to help people with intellectual disabilities manage their weight long-term.

What could go wrong
