Second chance at weight loss: small study tracks outcomes after repeat bariatric surgery
NCT ID NCT07345429
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study follows 14 adults who had a second weight-loss surgery (conversion bariatric surgery) because they didn't lose enough weight or regained weight after their first surgery. Researchers will measure changes in weight, body fat, muscle, and blood tests over one year. The goal is to learn how to better support patients after this type of repeat surgery.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
conversion bariatric surgery (a second weight-loss surgery procedure)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could provide doctors with better guidelines for follow-up care and nutrition after conversion bariatric surgery.
What could go wrong
This is a very small study (14 people) with no comparison group, so results may not apply to everyone. It only observes outcomes, so it cannot prove the surgery works better than other options.
