New Clot-Busting device could ease Long-Term leg pain
NCT ID NCT07622212
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study compares two medical devices used to remove large blood clots from the leg veins. About 180 adults with acute deep vein thrombosis (DVT) will receive either the ClotTriever System or an aspiration device. The goal is to see which device clears clots better and reduces the risk of post-thrombotic syndrome, a condition causing chronic leg pain and swelling.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
ClotTriever System and aspiration thrombectomy devices
What this could lead to
If successful, this could identify a better device for removing blood clots in the leg, potentially reducing long-term complications like pain and swelling.
What could go wrong
This is a relatively small, early-stage comparison study. Results may not apply to all patients, and both procedures carry risks like bleeding or vessel damage.
