NCT ID NCT06136481
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study tested whether a type of talk therapy called Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) can help adults who experienced the 2023 earthquakes in Turkey. Thirty-six participants with PTSD symptoms were randomly assigned to receive CPT or usual care. The goal was to see if CPT reduces PTSD, depression, and anxiety while improving well-being.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) - a type of talk therapy
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward an effective therapy for reducing PTSD, depression, and anxiety in earthquake survivors.
What could go wrong
This is a very small pilot study with only 36 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The therapy requires multiple sessions and may not work for all individuals.
