Coffee vs. AFib: can ditching your morning cup keep your heart in rhythm?

NCT ID NCT05121519

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looked at whether stopping coffee helps prevent atrial fibrillation (AFib) from returning after a heart shock treatment called cardioversion. Two hundred coffee drinkers with AFib were randomly assigned to either keep drinking coffee or avoid it for six months. Researchers tracked how many people in each group had another AFib episode.
