New software could spare thousands from unnecessary heart procedures

NCT ID NCT06977295

First seen Apr 30, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026

Summary

This study tests a new computer program that helps doctors diagnose blocked heart arteries more accurately using CT scans. The software automatically detects blockages, measures blood flow, and analyzes plaque. Researchers will compare its results to standard methods in 1,000 patients who already had heart scans. If successful, it could reduce the need for invasive catheter procedures.
