Tailored heart procedure may improve AFib treatment

NCT ID NCT03347227

First seen May 15, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether a personalized catheter ablation method, which targets areas of low voltage in the heart, works better than the standard procedure for people with persistent atrial fibrillation (a type of irregular heartbeat). About 500 adults with persistent AFib will be randomly assigned to receive either the tailored ablation plus standard vein isolation or standard isolation alone. The main goal is to see which group has fewer repeat episodes of irregular heart rhythms over 18 months.
