First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests a coaching program called CuRB-IT for family caregivers of people with dementia. The program includes 9 video sessions over 12 weeks to help caregivers manage care-resistant behaviors (like refusing help) and improve their own coping skills. About 266 caregivers will be randomly assigned to start the program right away or after a delay. Researchers will track changes in behavior frequency and caregiver well-being through surveys and daily diaries.

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ€” not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
CuRB-IT coaching program (9 video sessions over 12 weeks)
What this could lead to
If successful, this coaching program could give dementia caregivers practical tools to reduce difficult behaviors and feel more confident and less stressed.
What could go wrong
This is a behavioral study, not a drug trial, so results depend on caregiver participation and may not apply to all situations. The program requires time and internet access.
