100,000 seniors studied to uncover links between diabetes, heart risk, and kidney disease
NCT ID NCT07494526
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This observational study will follow 100,000 elderly Chinese adults (age 65+) to see how metabolic conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol impact the development and progression of chronic kidney disease (CKD). Participants will provide blood and urine samples and be tracked over time through clinic visits and medical records. The goal is to improve early detection and management of kidney disease in older people.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could help doctors better predict and manage kidney disease in older adults with conditions like diabetes and high blood pressure.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a treatment trial, so it won't directly test any new therapy. Results may take years and might not apply to non-Chinese populations.
