Blood test may spot hidden sarcoma signals
NCT ID NCT03818412
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study investigates whether fragments of tumor DNA circulating in the blood can be used to detect and monitor soft tissue sarcoma. Researchers will collect blood and tumor tissue samples from 40 adults with high-risk sarcomas to see if this DNA can serve as a biomarker for cancer detection, treatment response, and disease tracking. The goal is to develop a less invasive way to follow the disease compared to repeated biopsies or scans.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to a simple blood test to detect soft tissue sarcoma early, predict treatment response, and monitor for recurrence.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage observational study focused on measuring a biomarker, not testing a treatment. The findings may not translate into a reliable clinical test.
