Summary

This study tested whether the diabetes drug acarbose, adjusted using continuous glucose monitoring (CGM), can reduce pain in adults with painful diabetic neuropathy. 170 participants with type 2 diabetes and high blood sugar swings were enrolled. The goal was to see if controlling blood sugar spikes with acarbose could lower daily pain scores over 4 weeks compared to a placebo.
