New catheter maps Heart's electrical chaos in real time

NCT ID NCT01254474

First seen May 29, 2026 · Last updated Jun 13, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study tested a new catheter designed to measure the heart's electrical signals in people with irregular heartbeats (atrial fibrillation, ventricular fibrillation, or junctional tachycardia). Researchers enrolled 42 adults to see if the device could better identify abnormal electrical patterns. The goal was to improve understanding of how these arrhythmias work, not to provide direct treatment.
