Brain scans reveal what happens when heavy cannabis users stop
NCT ID NCT05472818
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study looks at brain changes in people who use cannabis heavily and want to quit. Researchers will use brain scans to measure a protein linked to brain cell connections, both before and after at least 4 weeks of not using cannabis. They will also test memory to see if brain changes affect thinking. The study includes 51 adults aged 18-75 who use cannabis daily and healthy volunteers for comparison.
