First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study compares two brief behavioral interventions for emerging adults aged 18-25 who use cannabis frequently (at least 20 days per month). Participants attend two 40-50 minute sessions a week apart and are followed for 6 months. The goal is to see if either program helps reduce cannabis use and related problems.

Active substance

behavioral intervention (Bloom and Health Education)

What this could lead to

If successful, this could point toward a simple, short-term counseling approach to help young adults cut back on frequent cannabis use.

What could go wrong

This is a small pilot study (62 participants) testing two behavioral programs, so results may not apply broadly. The interventions are brief and may not lead to lasting change.
