First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 10, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study looked at whether prazosin, a drug normally used for high blood pressure, could prevent post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in people who recently experienced a traumatic event like an accident or assault. Researchers gave the drug to 15 adults who showed signs of acute stress disorder within a week of the trauma. The goal was to see if blocking certain stress receptors could stop PTSD from developing.
