Brain training before amputation may stop phantom pain

Summary

This study tests whether doing special brain exercises (Targeted Brain Rehabilitation) before and after a major amputation can prevent or lessen phantom limb pain. About 50 people having a leg or arm removed will use a virtual reality device daily while in the hospital. Researchers will track their pain levels and compare them to standard care.
