First seen Nov 11, 2025 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 20 times
Summary
This study tested whether giving calcium before the heart medication diltiazem can prevent a sudden drop in blood pressure. 92 adults with a fast heart rate due to atrial fibrillation or flutter took part. Researchers compared calcium pre-treatment to a placebo to see if it reduced the risk of drug-induced low blood pressure.
