Summary
This study tests whether adding budesonide (an anti-inflammatory drug) to standard surfactant therapy helps extremely preterm babies (born before 29 weeks or weighing under 2.2 pounds) avoid severe chronic lung disease or death. About 640 infants will receive either the combination or surfactant alone within 48 hours of birth. The goal is to see if the combo reduces lung damage and improves survival.
