Bringing the Doctor's office to new moms: a van could boost postpartum care

NCT ID NCT07747519

First seen Aug 05, 2026 · Last updated Aug 06, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This trial tests whether offering postpartum checkups in a mobile medical van helps new mothers attend their visits more easily than going to a clinic. About 100 women who gave birth at Women & Infants Hospital will be randomly assigned to receive their standard postpartum care either in the van or at the clinic. Participants will complete their checkup and fill out short surveys about their experience. The goal is to see if the van improves attendance and satisfaction with postpartum care.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
Mobile postpartum care delivered in a medical van versus standard clinic care
What this could lead to
If mobile van visits improve attendance and satisfaction, this could offer a more accessible model for postpartum care, potentially reducing missed checkups.
What could go wrong
This is a small pilot study, so results may not apply broadly. The van's service area limits who can participate, and feasibility may not translate to larger settings.
