First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This pilot study is testing whether a brief, culturally adapted form of behavioral activation therapy is acceptable and practical for adults with depression in primary care settings. Twelve participants will receive three individual therapy sessions delivered by a psychologist. The study aims to see if patients and providers find the therapy agreeable and suitable, and whether it can be used in everyday primary care.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
brief culturally adapted behavioral activation therapy
What this could lead to
If successful, this could provide a simple, short therapy option for depression that fits into primary care settings, especially in non-Western cultures.
What could go wrong
This is a very small pilot study with only 12 participants, so results may not apply widely. It focuses on acceptability, not yet on proving the therapy works for depression.
