New study tests freezing vs. heating nerves to ease war wound pain

NCT ID NCT07380789

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests two minimally invasive procedures—cryoablation (freezing) and radiofrequency ablation (heating)—to control severe chest pain after combat injuries. About 50 adults in Ukraine will be randomly assigned to one treatment, and researchers will measure pain levels, opioid use, and breathing function. The goal is to find a safer, more effective way to manage acute pain and speed recovery.
