Could a daily supplement boost depression therapy?
NCT ID NCT07416747
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether a dietary supplement called GynMDD, taken alongside weekly supportive therapy, can improve symptoms of mild to moderate depression more than therapy plus a placebo. 168 adults aged 18 to 65 will take either the supplement or a placebo daily for 8 weeks, complete mood and digestive questionnaires, and provide stool samples. The goal is to see if the supplement reduces depression scores and improves gut health.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
GynMDD (a dietary supplement containing L-glutamine, curcumin, and probiotic bacteria)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a simple, natural add-on to therapy for people with mild to moderate depression, potentially improving mood and digestive health.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage, small trial (168 people) testing a dietary supplement, not a drug. The supplement may show no extra benefit over placebo, and results may not apply to severe depression.
