Brain scans reveal how therapy fights suicide in seniors

NCT ID NCT05925322

First seen Apr 24, 2026 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study looks at how a 9-week talk therapy called Engage & Connect changes brain activity in older adults (ages 50-80) who have depression and suicidal thoughts. Researchers will use brain scans to see if the therapy boosts activity in brain areas linked to feeling rewarded by social connections. The goal is to understand how the therapy works, not to test a new treatment. 128 participants will be enrolled.
