New ultrasound study aims to unlock brain recovery secrets in sick kids

NCT ID NCT07613918

First seen Jun 02, 2026 · Last updated Jun 16, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study uses a safe, non-invasive ultrasound test called Transcranial Doppler to measure blood flow in the brains of 125 children in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. Researchers want to see how brain blood flow changes during critical illness and whether those patterns relate to how well children recover. The goal is to gather knowledge that could improve future care, not to test a new treatment.
