Placental patch shows promise for stubborn leg wounds

NCT ID NCT06811909

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study tests whether a special placental membrane called BR-AC, applied weekly, can help heal non-healing venous leg ulcers faster than standard care alone. About 60 adults with a leg ulcer between the knee and ankle will be randomly assigned to get either standard care plus BR-AC or standard care only. The goal is to see if more wounds close completely within 12 weeks.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
BR-AC (a processed human placental membrane)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could provide a new treatment option to help heal stubborn venous leg ulcers faster.
What could go wrong
This is a small early trial with only 60 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The treatment may not heal ulcers better than standard care alone.
