Blood test may help match cancer patients to best drugs
NCT ID NCT07555600
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looks at whether a blood test can predict how well certain cancer drugs (PARP inhibitors) work in people with advanced breast, prostate, ovarian, or pancreatic cancer. Researchers will collect blood and tumor samples from 300 adults to analyze cancer cells and their DNA repair abilities. The goal is to see if these tests can help doctors choose the most effective treatment for each patient.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
blood sampling and tumor sampling
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to a simple blood test that helps doctors choose the right treatment for patients with advanced cancers.
What could go wrong
This is an early, proof-of-concept study with no treatment being tested. The blood test may not reliably predict treatment response, and results may not apply to all patients.
