Listening to blood flow: new study aims to predict fistula health by sound alone
NCT ID NCT06411353
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 21 times
Summary
This study looks at whether the sound made by blood flowing through an arteriovenous fistula (AVF) can tell doctors if the fistula is healthy. Researchers will measure blood flow conditions and compare them to the sounds recorded in 15 adults with end-stage kidney disease who need a new AVF for dialysis. The goal is to find a non-invasive way to predict fistula problems early.
