Can baking soda save lives during cardiac arrest?
NCT ID NCT05564130
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether giving sodium bicarbonate (a common substance) during a cardiac arrest in the hospital helps restart the heart. About 778 adults who have already received adrenaline will be randomly assigned to get bicarbonate or a placebo. The main goal is to see if it improves the chance of the heart beating again on its own.
