Summary
This study looks at 150 people with persistent atrial fibrillation (a type of irregular heartbeat) who are scheduled for a heart procedure called ablation. Researchers want to see if levels of a protein called BDNF in the blood are linked to signs of heart muscle damage (atrial cardiomyopathy). By comparing blood samples with heart mapping data taken during the ablation, they hope to better understand the connection between BDNF and heart health, and whether BDNF levels can predict future heart rhythm problems.
